Like many poverty-related issues, transportation has a racial dimension. African Americans, on average, use public transit far more than whites do. Nearly 20 percent of black households do not have a car, in comparison to 4.6 percent of white households. Those cars ride on highways that cut through low-income neighborhoods, highways that were built by giving urban areas short shrift. Nationwide about 80 cents out of every federal transportation dollar goes toward highways—used disproportionately by more affluent drivers—and only 20 cents goes toward mass transit systems, which are heavily used by people of color and by lower-income workers. When it’s time to distribute that 20 percent, regional authorities often favor light-rail systems for suburban commuters over bus lines for city riders.

They physically moved her bones. They moved her collar bone lower. I hope stuff like this makes people realize how ridiculous the media is.

this is so depressing.

this makes me so angry!

oH MYGOD I HATE THE MEDIA

In case you’re ever wondering why you don’t look like the girls on the covers of magazines: neither do they.

I will always reblog this so everyone that follows me has a chance to see how messed up society is.

OKAY EVERYONE. CHILL. OUT.Yes. Big fashion-y magazines like this one are generally the worst. Every single human in existence knows this. But as far as photo-chop jobs? This is honestly not that bad. Check out this article for much worse and anger worthy fuck ups.In this photo they changed very little about her actual appearance. They cut off a chunk of her leg (bottom right; about a 5 on the horrible scale), tightened her hips (hip area; 7 because seriously who CARES? Nobody would look at that waist and think twice about it. Chill with the warp tool), made her fingers longer (fingers on hand; 2. shut up.), dropped her collar bone to elongate her neck (neck; 4 just because it looks silly, not because it did any harm). As for everything else? They removed slight bags under her eyes which I do for EVERY SINGLE PORTRAIT I SHOOT. Maybe not this heavily but nobody wants to see tired when they’re all dressed up. They trimmed loose fabric in her armpit and around her wrist. They also added some shadow on top of the make up that was already there to her cheek bones and a little sum’n to her jaw line.Everyone knows that photoshop is used EVERYWHERE. Hell, even Jennifer Lawrence knows that it makes her look WAY different…Regarding her Dior campaign, “That doesn’t look like me at all. I love Photoshop more than anything in the world. Of course it’s Photoshop, people don’t look like that”
Why are so many people getting upset over minor things like this when I see make-up tutorials and things of the sort on here daily. I don’t understand you people. Faking an image, even your own, should upset you. The first article has a nice part about adding disclaimers to images or even to magazines in general. I think that would be nice. I also think that we as a society should just come to understand that this shit is going to continue and know that real people, in real life, don’t look like this. We aren’t two-dimensional and made of millions of lil pixels. We are made up of things that are constantly changing and moving; it’s ignorance to think that our perception of beauty shouldn’t.
